Anitra & Darnell’s Story of Hope

A church friend who knew we were looking for affordable, quality child care told us about the way her son blossomed at UCCC. One visit was all it took - we knew immediately it was the right place for us!

Up to that point, it seemed unlikely that we could find care and education we could afford where our two foster children would thrive. From our first visit to today, it's been clear that UCCC can provide a strong education for them, and more importantly, individualized support for their emotional and social development that helps them meet and master the effects of early trauma that is, unfortunately, so common for foster children.

UCCC teachers work closely with us. We share notes about progress and setbacks, they share photos and videos from class, and we share ideas about how we're working with them so their support at school and at home is consistent. And, every day, our children are excited to go to school!

The loving support our children receive, the knowledge that they are physically and emotionally safe, and our close partnership with their teachers gives us great peace of mind. That peace of mind allows us to be that much more effective as professionals, as providers, and as parents.

It also gives us hope. We're transitioning to being adoptive parents of these two dear children and looking forward to seeing all that unfolds for them. The UCCC experience has fueled our hope for their futures!
