As a result, I learned to love the qualities that make us unique and treat people as individuals. I am better prepared to talk with and listen to people with different ideas, thoughts, and perspectives. I have better social skills and can build trusting relationships with others. These are all foundational skills that you not only learn early in life, but will also help you become a productive citizen. "Like every child at UCCC, I was nurtured by loving teachers and experienced, amazing early childhood programming. But, little did I know that UCCC was going to great lengths behind the scenes to support my future. My mom has Sickle Cell Anemia and like UCCC, she wanted me to have the best education possible. Financially, she could not do it alone, but with support from UCCC’s tuition assistance program, I was able to stay enrolled. "I often wonder what my community would look like if every child had the same opportunity that I did. When I was younger, I was prone to seizures, a terrible experience for a toddler, especially one that was away from her mother. Nevertheless, the teachers at UCCC embraced me, kept me safe, and were steadfast in their support. With UCCC’s help, these challenging moments made me stronger and reinforced my commitment to UCCC. So far, five children in my family have attended UCCC because we believe that the school makes us all stronger; as individuals, as a family, and a community.
