Saturday Morning Reading Hour

...We've been waiting for you to come to this place,
waiting for you to come to this place...

This is the way the children and families were greeted on Saturday morning for the UCCC Read Across America event. The day began with songs and finger plays. We read two books, Harold and the Purple Crayon and Sadie and the Snowman.

Those who read Harold and the Purple Crayon were given their own pretend purple crayon to join in with Harold on his adventures while those who listened to Sadie and the Snowman created their own snowman.

The children heard new vocabulary words while sidling with a family member or friends. We closed out the hour by giving children some hand cream and a snack. Photos are forthcoming!

On Monday, I had several of the children ask me..."Mr. Z, do you remember seeing me at the story time?”

I want to thank the families who attended the event with their children. I have received many requests to do it more often! Watch this space! I want to thank Ms. Peaches, Kris, and the Whitfield School readers, Morgan, Emma, Bridget, Annalies, and Maddie.
