Transitions are easier with support, nurture and guidance

Transitions, even positive ones, are often difficult for adults and children.

One of the reasons that we take a full week to move a child from their home class to the new class is because of this understanding. As we transition our children to their new classrooms, we want to support, nurture and guide our children by:

  • supporting a sense of belonging in the classroom with classmates and the environment
  • supporting a sense of appropriate power during the process of transition
  • supporting a sense of being loved, cared for and nurtured during the transition

We have been transitioning small groups of children over the summer as openings in older classes become available.  These transitions will increase in numbers over the month of August.  Our hope is to have as many children as possible settled in their new rooms by the start of the school year.  We will, however, be continuing with some transitions into early September to accommodate the departure dates of our current students.  We also wish to welcome all new students and their families to our UCCC family. Please feel free to contact me anytime, but particularly if you have concerns with your child's transition.
