A Great Start to the Weekend!

Saturday mornings are a time that many families use to reconnect after a hectic week of school, work, meetings, sports practices, and a host of time-sucking obligations.  This Saturday, I was struck by the number of families that came to read and sing at our Family Reading Mornings, which happen about once a quarter.  The event wasn’t just about reading.  UCCC families, visiting families, volunteers from Whitfield High School, elementary aged children, and UCCC teachers and staff participated in reading, singing, and snacking for an hour of relaxed fun.  This week’s book selections, Snowmen at Night, and Stars, set a warm, snuggly tone.  Everyone was pleasantly surprised when Moonbeams teacher, Kara, brought out her ukulele and lead us in “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “Pop Like Popcorn,” a fave of the littlest guys.  For me, it was a great way to start my weekend, even if all week I’ve been “popping like popcorn.”
