Week of the Young Child

University City Children’s Center joins the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in celebrating the Week of the Young Child™, April 14 – 20,2013. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention onthe needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhoodprograms and services that meet those needs.

Early childhood education is vital to our community. Children need a strong early learning foundation to succeed in school and to succeed in life.

Ways that you can make a difference in your community:

  • Support early literacy programs. Early reading skills are crucial for young childrento be ready for school.
  • Reach out and thank parents, teachers, and all adults who help young childrenget a great start.
  • Support policies at the local, state, and federal levels that provide high-qualityearly learning opportunities for all young children.
  • Attend University City Children’s Center’s Literacy Night on Wednesday, April17, 2013. Dinner begins at 5:30 pm and classroom programs begin at 6:00 pmand runs until 6:45 pm.
