Hands on art

We have an awesome opportunity to welcome back Gay Lorberbaum, architect and professor. Gay offers hands on art experience for our students during the summer. Below is a summary of what you can expect your child to be talking about.

For the week of July 8, July 15, July 22 There will be a one week workshop for your child’s class each morning about: 
  • CREATING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
  • CREATING DANCES and MOVEMENTS 
  • CREATING COSTUMES and STAGE SETS
Adventure camp (children who leave for kindergarten in the fall) 2pm-3pm 
  • For the week of July 8 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons there will be a workshop about the special landscape features of Hawaii.
  • For the week of July 15 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons there will be a workshop about jungle animals.
  • For the week of July 22 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons there will be a workshop about ranches, cowboys, camping.
The THREAD in all of these workshops is that your children will be, making, building, constructing ‘
  • 3-D full scale musical instruments and costumes AND 
  • 3-D projects at architectural scale of stage sets
  • 3-D projects at architectural scale about Hawaii / Jungle Animals / Ranches  
We would so appreciate if you could bring to school this week the following:
  • ANY CONTAINERS (large, medium, small in size) YOU HAVE WITH LIDS
  • ANY TIN CANS YOU HAVE of DIFFERENT SIZES - SMALL / MEDIUM / LARGE
  • PAPER TOWEL & TOILET PAPER CARDBOARD CYLINDERS 
  • ROPE & STRING & YARN (these items can be dropped in the bid up front)
( On Monday morning, July 8, July 15, July 22, from 9am to 9:45am, musicians Miriam Keller and 
Bredon Jones will play their musical instruments and sing for the group who will participate that week in the one week workshop on CREATING musical instruments, dances &movements, costumes and stage sets. ) 
( From July 8 through July 26  Gay Lorberbaum, architect and professor, and Frank Lorberbaum, architect and builder, will co-lead the workshop Monday through Friday morning with your children. )
(From July 8 through July 26, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons Gay Lorberbaum will
 co-lead the workshop with Ms. C. Grosch. )
